Alfred Butler ("Alfred", "we", "us") is a personal AI assistant accessible via WhatsApp and Telegram. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

• Identity: Your name, phone number (WhatsApp) or Telegram user ID.
• Preferences: Gender preference, timezone, and plan tier.
• Messages: Content of messages you send to Alfred to generate responses. Messages are processed but not stored long-term beyond session context.
• Expenses & Reminders: Any expenses or reminders you ask Alfred to log, stored in our database.
• Images/Receipts: Photos you send for OCR are processed transiently and not permanently stored.
• Usage Metadata: Message timestamps, daily message counts (for rate limiting), and last-seen timestamps.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide Alfred's assistant features (reminders, expense tracking, briefings, etc.)
• To personalise responses based on your name, timezone, and history.
• To enforce fair-use rate limits on the free tier.
• To send proactive briefings and reminders via WhatsApp/Telegram.
• We do not sell your data to third parties.
• We do not use your data for advertising.

3. WhatsApp & Meta

Alfred uses Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API. Messages sent via WhatsApp are subject to Meta's Privacy Policy. We only receive message content you send directly to Alfred's WhatsApp number.

4. Telegram

Alfred uses the Telegram Bot API. Messages are subject to Telegram's Privacy Policy. We store your Telegram user ID and name to maintain your profile.

5. Data Retention

Your profile data (name, timezone, preferences, expenses, reminders) is retained while your account is active. Session and rate-limit data expires within 24 hours. You may request deletion at any time.

6. Data Deletion

To delete all your data, email privacy@alfred.bot or message Alfred: "delete my data". We will process deletion within 7 business days.

7. Security

Data is stored on Railway (PostgreSQL) and Upstash (Redis) with encryption at rest. Access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
